401322 Pte. Sidney Drew was born in Norwich, England, in October 1881.
Living in Goderich, Ontario, and working as a labourer at the time of attesting, Sidney originally signed on with the 33rd Battalion in Clinton, Ontario, on August 4th, 1915.
Sidney was later transferred to the 4th CMR, as one of 206 men of the 33rd Battalion, on June 7th, 1916, as reserves brought in to bolster the much reduced 4th CMR numbers after their losses of June 2nd, in the "Battle for Mount Sorrel".
Serving from that time until his honourable discharge in February 1917, Sidney and his wife, Emma, had 6 children - 3 boys and 3 girls - and subsequently were grandparents to 34 grandchildren and latterly 36 great-grandchildren.
Sidney passed on in Windsor, Ontario, in August 1970.
