Born in Brockville, Ontario, in October 1888, Wilfred signed on in Augist 1915, in Prescott, Ontario.


A candy maker by trade, Wilfred originally attested into the 77th (Ottawa) Battalion, on August 12th, 1915.


The 77th Battalion supplied 41 men to the 4th CMR, mainly in March 1916, and Wilfred was subsequently transferred to the 4th CMR with the bulk of the men on March 16th, 1916.


Whilst it is not known exactly when he was wounded, it was with sufficient time to move him to the UK for treatment before Wilfred died in Scotland on March 20th, 1917.


Pte. Wilfred John Wilson is the only member of the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles known to lie at rest in Glasgow Western Necropolis, Glasgow.
