109507 Pte. John Thomas Moulding was born in Wigan, Lancashire, England, in December 1879.

A horseman and chauffeur by trade when he signed up, John had previous active militia experience with the 9th Mississauga Horse and six years service with the Lancashire Hussars Yeomanry; seeing one year's active service in South Africa (Boer War).

Attesting into the 4th CMR, in Toronto, on November 27th, 1914, John served with the regiment throughout the war, without notable incident, until struck off strength on January 14th, 1920.

It is evident that John Moulding knew Capt. Kenneth Marlatt, as the two were photographed together (left).

It is not known if the association was personal or, as suspected, Officer / Batman service related.

A fuller biography for Pte. John Moulding will be provided in due course.
