Belgium - Nine Elms British Cemetery - West-Vlaanderen




Located on the Helleketelweg, west of Poperinge, in the West-Vlaanderen area of western Belgium, Nine Elms was opened in 1917, taking casualties from the 3rd Australian and 44th Casualty Clearing Stations.


The spacious cemetery holds 1,556 Commonwealth burials from WW1, plus 37 German burials from that time.


Also here are 22 WW2 burials associated with the Allied retreat to Dunkirk in 1940.
