Belgium - Tyne Cot Cemetery - Tyne Cot near Passendale

Located nearly 10km North-East of Ieper town, the Cemetery holds some 11,953 burials or commemorations, of which some 8,366 are unidentified burials.

A walk through this section is a humbling experience, by sheer weight of the number of headstones.

Tyne Cot Memorial, on the North-Eastern boundary of the Cemetery, is a long curving wall which holds the names of a little under 35,000 troops from the UK and New Zealand, who were lost without trace in the Ypres Salient after August 16th, 1917.

Like Maple Copse, Tyne Cot holds 12 headstones specific to men of the 4th CMR.
