3034966 Pte. George Joseph Foy was born on November 16th 1892, in the Township of Eurphrasia, Ontario. George grew up in a blended family where he and his two sisters lived with their mother Mary and her husband Sylvester Martin, who had a daughter from a previous marriage.


George was working as a tailor when he was conscripted into the Canadian Expeditionary Force on April 18th, 1918. Soon after he was hospitalised with measles for a month.


Upon discharge from hospital he sailed with a contingent of men form the 1st Central Ontario Regiment. Sailing on the Corsican he arrived in England on August 8th, 1918.


George was taken on strength of the 4th C.M.R. on October 19th 1918, and was immediately sent to the Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp for further training. Injuring his knee George did not rejoin the unit until after hostilities had ceased.


Private George Joseph Foy passed away on June 18th, 1976.
