109606 Pte. Albert Robert Smith was born in 1878 in Montreal, although cites December 1881 in his Attestation papers.
He worked as a cowboy in western Canada and the US, and his trade on enlisting was noted as "horseman".
Having served in the Boer War, Albert attested as part of the original 4th CMR intake in December, 1914.
Although not officially listed as wounded, it is said that he suffered lung injuries from gas attacks during service and this is in some way verified as he was struck off strength in May, 1918.
Albert passed away in Toronto in 1958.
